On May 8, 2010, the 3rd annual National Train Day will be celebrated at Union Station in Chicago. Participants will get a chance to see model trains, tour private and Amtrak train cars, explore interactive and educational exhibits, etc.

Chicago-based Pullman Company created by George Pullman (1831-1897) manufactured, owned, and operated sleeping cars, like the one on a photograph above, and became the biggest railroad car building company in the world. Pullman Company Car Drawings, 1870-1969 (bulk 1919-1969) Collection in Opening History contains 1,299 Pullman car drawings, created between 1870 and 1969.
